Etsy Swap - Fall 2014

So guys, I was involved in something pretty darn exciting recently: AN ETSY SWAP!

It was put on by Amy of Taking Steps Home and Megan of Rivers & Roads. It was so much fun!

Here is what I sent to my partner, Pamela of AstroloTea:

Aren't these lights super fun? I kind of, no really want a set for myself now!

And here is what I got from Carissa of Lillies and Silk:

I have had my eye on that teacup for so long now! And the healing salve is so lovely!

Poor Little Blog

My poor little blog is feeling awfully neglected as of late.

It's not that I don't want to keep up with my little corner of the internet, I do.

I guess I just shouldn't force myself to post more than when I feel like it.

Here's what I've been up to:

custom wedding 1

Lots, and lots, and lots of embroidery. Etsy has been oh-so-good to me. I just had my 80th (80TH!!!) sale! It makes me happy to be doing something that makes me, well, happy!

Remember when I painted on fabric? Well, I finally finished that hoop. It sparked so many more new ideas.

Brian and I celebrated 2 years of being married! We took 4 days and backpacked down in the redwoods. It was quite lovely to be completely away from technology and people, and just to be out under the stars and breathing the fresh air. Swimming, watching frogs jump about, campfires... there's nothing quite like being alone in the woods. We had a phenomenal time, and we're already thinking about future trips. I will say though, the shower and burger and beer we had when we got home was like one million, no, four million dollars.

Seriously, just listen to those birds!

Love, Your unreliable friend,

Seriously, No Big Deal...

Oh yeah, hey. Here's a picture of me in a field of poppies.

No big deal.

Ok, I'm lying when I say no big deal.

This was a big deal.

On Mother's day, my mom and I took a drive out to Corvallis. We had lunch, and borgias (our favorite treat!) and walked around the little shops downtown. On our way back, we drove past this. A field of flowers.

We turned around to get a picture, and when we got closer, we realized they were poppies.

My absolute favorite flower.

We took some pictures and then just sat there, looking at it. It was breathtaking. They went on and on and on...

Pretty lovely way to spend a Mother's Day.

Your friend,

The Pollen Might Be Getting To Me... Worth It

I wish you could smell these from where you are sitting.

I am in heaven.

Happy Mother's Day weekend, everyone!

Here we are in May, and I'm not quite sure what happened. Time has been weird, running at all different speeds at the same time.

My days have been filled with French press coffee, and sunshine, and rain showers, and new plants sprouting, and sneezes, and lazy weekends, and actually, a bit of creativity thrown in there too.

I made these for my garden (which is coming along quite nicely!) and I am quite in love with them.

In other news, I just shipped off my first international order! Happy.

Love, Your friend,

New Methods...

I had an idea a couple weeks ago, for a totally new way to do embroidery.

I hadn't done it yet because I didn't know if it would work.

Well, it worked.

I can't wait to show you what else I'm going to do with it. Oh the possibilities!

Paint plus stitches.

Your friend,

Here We Go

I know it's been a while. I needed a while.

But I think I'm ready to start this back up again!

Let's see...

The last time I was here I had just started working in my yard again...

Well, I've kind of gone overboard on that. Between the garden and general upkeep of the yard (it is very big... bigger even than my parent's backyard!), it has pretty much taken all of my free time. And surprisingly, I love it. All the overgrown plants got new haircuts and all the weeds are saying their farewells. New flowers are being planted and the garden area is being tilled next weekend. It is a new adventure and I am so excited about it! Oh! And I started a compost pile. Fuck yeah.

We celebrated both of my parent's birthdays... My dad's with home brewed beer and my mom's with home made chocolate chocolate chocolate cake.

We took some tea photos.

Also, my dearest friend Gina and I have started having a craft day every week! It has been all kinds of awesome sharing ideas, inspiring each other, learning new things, and of course spending time with her new baby, Nora!

On top of all that, i'm still loving my job as a math and reading tutor, and I've been embroidering like crazy.

Happy Easter everyone.

See you tomorrow.

Your unreliable friend,
Who really is trying...

I haven't felt so good in a long time. I spent the entire day prepping my yard for a garden (a new term I know call "yarding"), planting flowers, and running away from bugs. I hurt all over. Literally every part of my body hurts, in a good way; the dirt under you fingernails, lungs filled with fresh air, and maybe even a slight sunburn, alive sort of way.

I am now drinking an apple cider in my pajamas, and I plan on reading for the rest of the evening.

Much love to you all!

Fresh veggies here I come,
Your friend,

Gears are turning...

Happy Spring, everyone! And Happy Birthday to my dear ol' dad!

We are headed to my parents' house tonight for homemade, beer battered fish and chips, and probably some home-brewed beer as well!

I have all next week off of work because of spring break, and I can already feel the gears turning in my head thinking of new projects to work on.

Here's one that I've just finished, and am really quite fond of:

Much love,

I'm feeling a teeny bit overwhelmed today so I'm going to keep it simple.

And just to be clear, it is a good kind of overwhelmed.

So here is an old picture that I'm using now. It is a picture of my sister and I when she came to visit a couple weeks ago.

Much love,
Your friend,

Pie and Stitches

My days have been odd and strangely full. Days of macaroni and cheese pie making and extra long movie marathons; weird sci-fi movies and the best reuben sandwiches in the history of ever (made by the two men of the household while the ladies propped their feet up and drank beer).

Sun and rain and clouds and oddly warm weather have my brain all confused, and time seems to be going slow and fast both at the same time.

Oh, and some finished custom embroidery:

Much love, and hoping your days go smoothly,
Your friend,

Fresh Start

I'm back!
My camera lens is back!
I'm both exhausted and exhilarated.

It's only 8:30 and I feel like I've already done more today than I have in weeks. Not the kind of stuff that everyone else knows is productive; not folding laundry or getting work done, but rather the kind of stuff that you feel deep down inside. Things you've been meaning to write down, or little scraps of paper that need organizing. Words that needed to be said into the morning air and time spent being quiet. Watching the sun rise...

So yeah, I think it is safe to say that I feel good today.

Your friend,

How Rude & Catching Up

...... Hi

Remember me?

Sorry about that rather rude absence.

We've been a tid bit busy over here and I don't even remember how many pictures I owe you anymore.

Ok I just went back and counted and it looks like I owe you 4 through today. And I have 3 and a half. Not sure how that happened.

Saturday was quite hectic. We had some much needed catch up time with the roommates (which sounds weird, catch-up time? But you live with them. Yes, but it isn't good to only do dishes with them, and say hello in passing, and both us and them had and will continue to be pretty busy, so in order to keep our household happy and content, we need fun time with them as well (longest parenthesis ever?) so we went to our favorite place to get lunch and beer) and after that we had Brian's yearly company dinner in which we dressed up, ate dinner, drank wine, and watched other people win prizes.

We spent Sunday in Portland for Brian's little brother's last culinary competition before he graduates! His team did so well!

Unfortunately... I didn't get pictures of any of the fun stuff. Not any of it!

I did, however, get some pictures of some other things going on over here.

Since our crazy weekend, I've been doing some organizing, and cataloging, and such. Getting papers in order and thoughts and ideas written down. Pre-spring-cleaning I guess.

My new birthday stamp! Thanks, sister! So much fun. I've been playing around with paper and ink and fun colors to try to find what looks best.

And of course, the ever glamorous laundry.

So. Not sure if that spewing of words and pictures quite catches me up, or if I need to do an extra challenge. What do you think?

Your friend that is still here,

I have a pretty busy weekend ahead of me, so if I don't post every day, I will just double up on photos. Or triple up. Or whatever.

But don't fret! (I know... you were about to fret) I will be taking pictures every day.

Here are yesterday's pictures...

I've been trying to take tea pictures for my dear friend Pamela to use. I think these are my favorite ones so far.

And today's...

I'm not sure what it is about having a nice camera, but now I want to take pictures of all of my food. I try to limit myself.

Ok! Happy March!

Your friend,
